Eyebrow Feathering

by | Sep 26, 2021

Eyebrow feathering. It’s the semi-permanent eyebrow beauty treatment that everyone seems to be posting about on Instagram, and the treatment responsible for the pair of perfectly groomed brows on your previously ’90s-browed BFF.
You might already know we’re big fans of feathering tattooing. But how much do you actually know about it? What exactly is it? How long does it last? And how does it differ from the rather blocky-looking eyebrow tattooing of yesteryear?
Well, we’re glad you asked! Here’s everything you ever wanted to know about eyebrow feathering.

WHAT IS EYEBROW FEATHERING?

As the name suggests, it is a form of eyebrow design using feather strokes. Eyebrow feathering is the process whereby high quality semi-permanent pigment is placed under the surface of the skin via a fine blade. This microblade creates a brow that appears ‘feathered’ – mimicking the growth of your already existing hair to create brows that are a bolder, more defined and more permanent version of your own, while still appearing natural.

WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MICROBLADING, EYEBROW FEATHERING AND EYEBROW EMBROIDERY?

These are all names for the same thing. You’ve probably also heard of eyebrow tattooing – but that tends to refer to the older, ‘blockier’ style of tattooing that doesn’t use small strokes to mimic hair.

DOES EYEBROW FEATHERING HURT?

We use anaesthetic cream before and during the procedure to ensure any discomfort is minimal.

HOW LONG DOES THE PROCEDURE TAKE?

Eyebrow feathering takes approximately two hours from start to finish. There is limited to no downtime, so you may return to work or other activities straight afterwards. There may be some slight redness immediately after the treatment, with some scabbing of the eyebrow area over the following days.

HOW LONG WILL MY NEW EYEBROWS LAST?

A touch up is required once, 1 to 3 months after the initial procedure. Eyebrow feathering should last anywhere between 12 months and 3 years.

IS IT SUITABLE FOR EVERYONE?

While we have patients of all ages coming in for eyebrow feathering, it’s not suitable for everyone. We don’t recommend you get the treatment if you’re pregnant or breastfeeding, are going through chemotherapy, or have had botox in the past two weeks, as well as some other exclusions. Be sure to read our full list of exclusions here.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

At Simply Laser, eyebrow feathering costs $699, which includes your initial treatment and a touch up within two months.
